In fact, it doesn’t unless you’re not warmed up. I’m not anyway as violent as Gasquet you gotta say, but when I do reach full extension it’s not painful.
it is commentators have said along with majority of the pros. that his backhand is the best in tennis. his backhand is unpredictable too because his body hides the head of his racquet. he get so much power spin and control on his backhand. if his forehand was nearly as close he would easily be top 3
Hm, we’re still not connecting here. I’m not talking about shots he is shanking or anything. I’m saying that he hits topspin shots on balls that no other player with a 1handed backhand can hit. Because of that I get so used to seeing a player slice a ball in that position back that when Gasquet hits topspin it just looks weird to me because I’m not used to a player making that kind of contact.
Any shot from any player can look weird or sometimes ugly if they prepare late or not in the right position to hit but they hit it anyway. I have seen these “off” shots very every player out there. I call them “off” shots but I would never call them “ugly” because I wish I had his “ugly” shots when I play.
No, it’s not ridiculous at all. He manages to hit topspin on shots that others players couldn’t which sometimes makes the stroke look a bit awkward since he has to hit a weird stroke to make contract.
I’ll admit Gasquet’s backhand can look ugly sometimes…but I think it’s because he uses it on ridiculous shots that Federer would have to just slice back.

One of the very best BH’s. But, I still feel Justine Henin’s was better.
Greatest slice BH of all time… Ken Rosewall, ‘The Little Master’… amazing player.

Look at the acceleration of the racket and where his shoulder ends. I never saw something even close to it.
By kaneshawn, August 25, 2010 @ 5:15 pm
that backhand is “painfully dangerous”
By TracyMacToDaRack, August 25, 2010 @ 5:18 pm
seems like lotta stress on the shoulders huh?
By chazzoro, August 25, 2010 @ 5:55 pm

Gasquet’s backhand is beautiful, calling it ugly is ridiculous. His forehand is the shot that looks ugly at times.
By EspanaTorresx, August 25, 2010 @ 8:18 pm
This is actually the best backhand of the world , ,

Gasquet has a great backhand!
By kvyas2, August 25, 2010 @ 10:00 pm
federer has SO much better backhand, much clearner and less ugly looking.
By da2anda1, August 25, 2010 @ 10:56 pm
He may not be the best player, but that’s for sure: if God played tennis, his backhand would be Gasquet’s.
