Every player take their racket back from above as that ensures you a continuous swing path and it also allow you to set earlier. You can wait hours with the racket up and shoulders turn without hindering your timing and power. However, if you do like many amateur and make some sort of pendulum back swing, you will rush for the stroke because you cannot set up earlier, not to mention you will lack the looseness to swing with force.

Some have big loops, others have smaller.

That’s actually one shot… you can’t hit that shot this hard without an open stance and a scissor-kick jump.
Anyone ends-up doing things like that without even thinking it that much. You see some pros doing it and once you’re good with the movement, you start adapting better to the situations and one day you jump and strike winners in the air. But, here, we have a one handed backhand, so you better make it perfect or it’ll be a bad shot.

@PhilippedeHerte i see you’ve changed your tune. first you said it means i know zero about tennis, and now, after i pointed out your mistake, you say i’m a big mouth tennis hack lol

i’d like to see you play. i bet when you try and serve an ace the ball hits you on the head and you smash your racquet on the ground lol

  • By PhilippedeHerte, July 29, 2010 @ 6:49 pm

@jdhf983y4uhu I’m not going to debate a ridiculous nobody. The tennis consensus is that Gasquet has the best 1HB in the game and aesthetically the most beautiful. If you think otherwise then all it means is that you’re a big mouth tennis hack.

  • By jdhf983y4uhu, July 29, 2010 @ 7:33 pm

@PhilippedeHerte no, i haven’t got a bridge to sell. it’s hardly the greatest claim in the world, 1000s of juniors have played the orange bowl and/or trained with pros. you just don’t like it because you tried to sound clever and ended up looking like a tit.

  • By PhilippedeHerte, July 29, 2010 @ 8:20 pm

@jdhf983y4uhu Yeah, I’m sure you also have a beautiful bridge to sell. The bullshit one reads on YouTube…

  • By jdhf983y4uhu, July 29, 2010 @ 8:36 pm

@PhilippedeHerte i knew enough to play pro sets with two gand slam champions and play a few rounds of the orange bowl main draw and have boxes delivered to me full of all the equipment i wanted for free. i’ll take the opinions of the people mentioned rather than a you as i suspect they know a little more than you when it comes to tennis.

  • By PhilippedeHerte, July 29, 2010 @ 8:47 pm

@jdhf983y4uhu ?The consensus is that Gasquet has the most beautiful and effective backhand in the game. You’re one in a million who thinks otherwise, which tells me that you know zero about tennis.

@enigma81581 Very intelligent response, internet tough guy.

  • By enigma81581, July 29, 2010 @ 9:52 pm

@MaratSafinVideos Bro i have PLAYED longer than you have spent time fapping to pics of lil kids so fuck off

  • By MaratSafinVideos, July 29, 2010 @ 10:32 pm

@enigma81581 Why’? Do you actually know anything about tennis? There’s a reason why Rafael Nadal peppers the Roger Federer backhand.

  • By enigma81581, July 29, 2010 @ 10:47 pm

    @soeghi aaaaaaahahahhaahahahhaaahaaaaaaaaaa FAIL

  • By soeghi, July 29, 2010 @ 11:07 pm

If Federer had that backhand, Nadal would never win a match.

  • By ludtke337, July 29, 2010 @ 11:45 pm

@dj6658 haha pamela, why did you do that to richard !? 🙂

  • By Bladerunner55217, July 30, 2010 @ 12:42 am

that second example where the ball is higher , It looks like a tough swing !

  • By tuber123asd, July 30, 2010 @ 1:21 am

I don’t think this techniique is something to be emulated. Lots of times, these guys get away with bad form and technique on certain shots because they’ve hit millions of balls and are in perfect physical shape. But what’s demonstrated here is not ideal. You’ll never see Federer hitting a shot like this. Gasquet regularly hits with his weight falling backwards, jumping in the air, and takes wild flails at the ball often. Footwork and balance are also questionable.

  • By yaglourt, July 30, 2010 @ 1:43 am

    @THES0L0IST
His FH was good in 2007 (rank 7)
but now it’s often too short and high, don’t know what happened…

  • By yaglourt, July 30, 2010 @ 2:04 am

damn he’s able to do te same sick motion even when the ball is at shoulder height o_O

  • By dj6658, July 30, 2010 @ 3:00 am

hi this is pamela the girl from the nightclub

  • By iowacorn123, July 30, 2010 @ 3:40 am

left foot jump, with the right foot fly to balance…genius!

  • By ryanrenesis, July 30, 2010 @ 3:42 am

He is jumping with his left foot.
Why did the video say right?

  • By dodonat1991, July 30, 2010 @ 4:20 am

Gasquet a le meilleur revers du monde, alors Federer ni Wawrinka peuvent se rhabiller.
Suffit juste de regarder Gasquet nadal monte carlo 2005, quand on ne connaît pas le tennis on se tait.

  • By MetalMD7, July 30, 2010 @ 4:23 am

Federer’s backhand is the best in style and in performance, also I like the onehanded backhand of Almagro just that he fails too much…

  • By nes4l, July 30, 2010 @ 5:04 am

In my opinion, Gasquet’s backhand is great, but the best one-handed backhand player is Wawrinka

  • By opium1510, July 30, 2010 @ 5:37 am

if you look at gasquet in both of the shots ,he is on the defence thus that is why he is transferring his weight on the back foot so he can push the ball forwards and keep his balance whilst being pushed back by the ball
